The Prophetic Approach in Psychological Education: A Case study of Optimism and Superstition

Abstract:

The Sunnah contains abundant principles of education including in the field psychological domain. This paper is aimed at highlighting comprehensiveness of the prophetic tradition particularly which is related with mental health. Self-purification is considered as is one of those five essential things need to be preserved. Both the Qur’an and Sunnah have ample evidenceon psychological education.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) highly asserted on the balanced approach integrating spiritual and intellectual. In addition, highly encourages all believers on optimism toward the mercy of God as well as forbidding pessimism and superstitious belief. This paper attempts to clarify pertinent issues related with psychological education based on prophetic guidance for benefit of all believers in the Muslim ummah.
