Abstract
The paper aims at analyzing contribution of Imam Shatibi in giving annotation on the book of al-Tayyibah. This study is exclusively to address scholars specialized within this field as there is hardly any piece of work on that field. We follow the methodological framework of inductive approach. It is conducted in a way to respond to these two fundamental questions. First, what are the descriptive annotation in the hands of Shatibi on al-Tayyibah. Second, what are the areas of analytical description on al-Tayyibah.?
The study has come out with these findings. Imam Shatibi is very much imbued with the idea of giving the vision to seekers of knowledge. Moreover, he is very concerned with broadening the horizon of thinking among his audience. Secondly, he attempts to analyze diversity of views of scholars due to his awareness on scientific issue of different school of thought.
At the end, he concludes through the exposition of guidance based on the origin of etymological statement as well as the derivation of the meaning from structural phrases of the syntax.
